Who is Romana Kryzanowska
Romana Kryzanowska was a pupil of Joseph Pilates, originally a professional dancer, she was introduced to the method when she suffered an ankle injury. Pilates suggested she take five classes and if she didn’t feel improvement he’d return her money.
Romana not only noticed an improvement in her ankle, but an overall improvement in her body and her dancing as well. Romana continued to work closely and extensively with Joseph Pilates learning the method until his death in 1968.
She then continued working with Clara Pilates (wife of Joseph) for another 11 years until her death in 1979. Romana continued to teach the original method, just as she was taught.
She is credited with keeping The Pilates Method alive through the decades. It is through her work and integrity for the Pilates Method that we all come to benefit.
